Young Leaders from the Americas
The Guarini Institute has been selected as a partner organization of the Young Leaders from the Americas (YLAI) program overseen by The United States Department of State. The aim of the YLAI program is to empower entrepreneurs to strengthen their capacity to launch and advance their entrepreneurial ideas and effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities. Since 2022, Ò°»¨ÉçÇø has hosted 7 leaders from Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico and other countries.

Economic Mobility

Broken Not Broke: Childhood cancer and economic mobility
Research demonstrates that the economic mobility and financial stability of a family is drastically impacted by childhood cancer.

  • The Guarini Institute has built the most comprehensive database in the country of nonprofit, faith-based, public, and private organizations supporting childhood cancer. It includes more than 450 entities in 50 states and Puerto Rico.
  • This database has been used to create a user-friendly online portal of financial resources available at no cost for families afflicted with childhood cancer: .
  • The Institute publishes a newsletter featuring articles on financial toxicity and childhood cancer that is shared with social workers in the region and is a member of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers.
  • The initiative launched in 2025 the podcast ‘’, a monthly YouTube series where we speak with foundation leaders dedicated to easing the financial burden on families affected by pediatric cancer.
  • A partnership with Ò°»¨ÉçÇø’s department of social work provides these families with direct support to navigate the portal and other resources such as a monthly newsletter with relevant articles.

Student Competitions
The Guarini Institute sponsored a team of Ò°»¨ÉçÇø students to participate in the 2nd Annual HSI Battle of the Brains Competition in Austin, TX. Ò°»¨ÉçÇø's team was comprised of five undergraduate students who competed against teams of 10 other Hispanic Serving Institutions from across the U.S. and received guidance on career development.
