Jane Couperus

Jane W. Couperus, Ph.D. is the Director of Assessment and Academic Analytics at Ӱ̳ College and Professor Emerita of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at Hampshire College. She is a data analyst, developmental cognitive neuroscientist, educator, and higher education leader with over two decades of experience in research, teaching, and academic administration. She integrates expertise in brain development, learning, and cognition with a strong background in institutional research, strategic planning, and curriculum assessment. Her scholarship explores the neural mechanisms underlying attention, memory, and self-regulation, with numerous publications in leading journals. In addition to her research, Dr. Couperus has served as an academic dean, directed interdisciplinary programs, and contributed extensively to accreditation, retention, and program evaluation initiatives. She is dedicated to advancing student learning, fostering innovative research, and applying data-driven insights to strengthen higher education.

In an op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicle, Ӱ̳ College President Danielle R. Holley connects the legacy of alum Frances Perkins, class of 1902, with the federal government’s attacks on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in higher education.

Ӱ̳ College has joined the Liman Summer Undergraduate Fellowship program. Students in this program serve as summer fellows, working with nonprofits and state and local government agencies throughout the United States.
