Military Financial Aid

Financial Aid Opportunities

野花社区 offers financial aid options specifically designed for military students.  This support helps cover tuition, fees and other education-related expenses.  Additionally, various financial aid programs are available for spouses and dependents of military and veteran members. In addition, military students can apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Veteran benefit recipients must follow the process described below to utilize their education benefits. After acceptance and registration, applicants will receive a bill for tuition and fees. From there, follow the instructions below.

For assistance, contact the 野花社区 Office of Military and Veterans Services located in GSUB Room 127.

NJ NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS
Those eligible for the New Jersey National Guard Tuition Waiver Program and have received a tuition bill should visit the Office of Military and Veterans Services. Bring a Commander鈥檚 Certification and ensure financial aid has been filed. A tuition waiver form will be completed at this time, and tuition will be waived by the Bursar鈥檚 Office. Please note that student fees must be paid at the time tuition is waived.

POST 9/11 GI BILL (CHAPTER 33 鈥淣EW GI BILL庐&苍产蝉辫;鈥)
To utilize GI Bill庐 benefits, applicants must provide the Office of Military and Veterans Services with a letter of eligibility. Once received, the Bursar will be notified and tuition will be deferred for the amount of entitlement, pending receipt of the benefit. Applicants will receive notification from the Bursar of any outstanding balances. Balances must be paid in full by prior to the end of the term.

If dropping a course after being certified, students must notify the Office of Military and Veterans Services. The student will be responsible for reimbursing the overpayment for the dropped course to both the university and Department of Veterans Affairs.  If, for any reason, the University does not receive funds from the Veterans Administration, students will be responsible for any debts owed.

OTHER GI BILL PROGRAMS (CHAPTERS 30, 35, AND 1606)
To activate benefits for additional GI Bill庐 programs, including Chapters 30, 35, and 1606, students must schedule an appointment in the Office of Military and Veterans Services. Dependents should bring the veteran鈥檚 file number. At this appointment, the appropriate paperwork will be completed and all materials forwarded to the VA Regional Office. Continuing students should allow four to six weeks for processing, while new students should allow 6-8 weeks.

As 野花社区 does not participate in the Advanced Payment Program, all outstanding debts must be paid in full at the Bursar鈥檚 Office before filing for educational claims.

CHAPTER 31 (VETERAN READINESS & EMPLOYMENT)
Veterans should contact the 野花社区 Office of Military & Veterans Services and schedule an appointment as early as possible. Upon receipt of an authorization form (28-1905) from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, both the Bursar鈥檚 Office and campus bookstore will be notified about a student鈥檚 eligibility for the Veteran Readiness & Employment program. Bookstore purchases are limited to books and course-related materials.

FEDERAL TUITION ASSISTANCE (ALL BRANCHES)
Students using federal tuition assistance must notify the Office of Military & Veterans Services of their desire to do so. Applications should be submitted to the Department of Defense no later than 14 days prior to the start of the term. Once approved, please send confirmation to the Office of Military & Veterans Services so the department can notify the bursar鈥檚 office for clearance.

VETERANS TUITION CREDIT PROGRAM (VTCP) AND VIETNAM VETERANS鈥 TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (VVTAP)
Students who were N.J. state residents during the Vietnam Era and are eligible for the Veterans Tuition Credit Program (VTCP) or the Vietnam Veterans Tuition Aid Program (VVTAP) should contact the office for further information. Deadline dates are Oct. 1 and March 1 of each academic year. To utilize the benefit, veterans must be registered for at least six credits.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL CHAPTERS

  • GI Bill庐 payment should be received within four to six weeks of processing for continuing students and 6 to 8 weeks for new students. Students who do not receive payment should contact the office to follow up. It is strongly recommended to ensure direct deposit is up to date.
  • When scheduling classes, please know that the Veterans Administration will only cover courses applicable to the pursued degree. Questions regarding schedules should be directed to the Office of Military and Veterans Services.
  • The VA will not pay for a repeated course unless it is required for graduation and a grade was below a passing standard. (e.g. Some majors require a grade of C or higher in all core courses.) In this instance, the course may be eligible for reimbursement. Please inform the Office of Military and Veterans Services if repeating a course.
  • Students should inform their academic advisor that they are a veteran or a dependent of veterans. In addition, any student eligible to declare a major should do so at the time of advisement.  Those who wish to change a major must notify the Office of Military and Veterans Services so that a change in student status can be completed.
  • Students eligible for transfer credit (Basic Training, Military Education Courses, etc.) must submit their certificates and transcripts by the end of their first semester at 野花社区.
  • If withdrawing from a course after certification, it is the student鈥檚 responsibility to notify the Office of Military and Veterans Services. Please notify the office within 10 days of the final day of class attended.
